Coppell (/kəˈpɛl/ kə-PEL)[5] is a city in the northwest corner of Dallas County in the U.S. state of Texas. It is a suburb of Dallas and a bedroom community in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The population was 38,659 at the 2010 census.[6] A small area in the far northern portion of the city extends into neighboring Denton County. The Coppell area was settled by German and French immigrants in the 1840s. Members of the Peters Colony also settled here in the 1840s.[7] Originally named Gibbs Station, after Barnett Gibbs (one of Texas’s first lieutenant governors), the town was renamed in 1892 for George Coppell, a wealthy English financier who came to the United States in the 1880s and was reportedly heavily involved with the final construction of the local railroad line.

Popular belief is that he was an engineer, but there is little or no evidence to support that claim.[8]In 1955, the community was incorporated through a ballot measure that passed by a vote of 41 to 1. Spurred by the opening of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in 1974, the city was radically transformed from a tiny farming village to a large, upper-middle class suburban community in the 1980s and 1990s. By 2000, almost all of the residentially zoned land in the city was developed, and the population grew to over 35,000. In addition to suburban homes, the city has a growing commercial base of warehouses and transportation centers on the south and west sides of the city, closest in proximity to the airport.

Coppell, Texas Home Security

We have a big house and we have never lived in the area, so we don’t know what to expect. We were trying to get cable and they said that they have a partnership with SafeStreets USA. We got them through the cable company and everything has been great. I like the system and I haven’t had any problems. The installer knew a lot about the product,

Burglaries Cost More than You Think

Being the victim of a home burglary can be a very distressing experience. Stress may become compounded once the financial impact of a burglary becomes apparent. According to the FBI, burglary victims in 2011 faced, on average, nearly $2,200 in property loss. This number doesn’t take into consideration additional expenses in the form of lost wages, insurance deductibles, and various other costs. Residents of some cities were victims of as many as 109101 property crimes and 27459 burglaries in 2011. Several of these burglaries could have been prevented had homeowners installed home security systems, which can deter potential intruders from breaking into a residence.

Why Texas Homeowners Choose ADT Monitoring Systems

There are many different reasons Texas residents choose ADT Security Monitoring to help protect their home & family from burglary and other disasters. But we thought we’d list just a few reasons for choosing SafeStreets USA and ADT.

Multiple types of protection. ADT monitored security systems not only help protect against burglaries and home invasion, but also helps against fire and even carbon monoxide poisoning. An alarm can help wake your family in case of smoke and fire. A panic button can also help contact police or fire department during an emergency, perhaps even saving your life.

Security equipment that’s easy to use. With just a push of a button you can easily arm and disarm your system. And with the panic button your family can quickly alert emergency response such as police or the need of an ambulance.

Dependable equipment and confident monitoring your home security system is monitored 24 hours a day and 365 days per year by trained staff at the ready. ADT provides great redundancy with 6 US monitoring centers your home is never unprotected. If one center is down then another automatically starts monitoring your home.

Quick deployment of first responders. At any time your alarm is triggered or you push the panic button, ADT’s monitoring centers will quickly try and verify your situation. If you are having an actual emergency ADT will immediately notify police or fire responders with your exact location and details.

Tips to Get the Most of Your Motion Sensors

Sometime, motion sensors can feel like they never work correctly. False alarms, no alarm, or other mishaps with motions sensors give them a bad reputation in the home security world. But often, there are many things you can do to ensure they work appropriately.

Motion sensors come in many forms—lights, alarms, and cameras—and each of these has their own unique features to help guard your home. They are the do-it-all device that gives users the ultimate control over their property. You can make the most of your motion sensors by understanding how they work and where they can work in your own home.

How Motion Sensors Work

A motion sensor’s primary purpose is to detect when someone uninvited is around or in your home. A motion sensor sends a signal to your security system and if tripped, an alert is sent to you and your monitoring center.

There are two main types of motion sensors used in the home: active motion and passive motion.

  • Active motion—works by using sound waves and is typically used in automatic doors, like your garage door.
  • Passive motion—uses passive infrared to detect emitted infrared energy or heat. This is the most common type of motion sensor in residential homes.

The Ideal Placement

Placement is a large part of the successful application for motion sensors. They work best when placed high up to cover a large amount of area. It might seem obvious to place motion sensors near a door or window, but this placement can block their range, and any action in front of the sensor only shows slight alterations in infrared energy over time. They also function by detecting a fluctuation in heat, so a sunny window or near a heating element won’t make sense for their placement.

The best placement for a motion sensor is in a corner of the room that has a good viewpoint of your entryways and easily detect any changes in the room.
