Tulsa /ˈtʌlsə/ is the second-largest city in the state of Oklahoma and 47th-most populous city in the United States. As of July 2019, the population was 401,190, an increase of 11,129 since the 2010 Census.[6] It is the principal municipality of the Tulsa Metropolitan Area, a region with 991,005 residents in the MSA and 1,251,172 in the CSA.[7] The city serves as the county seat of Tulsa County, the most densely populated county in Oklahoma,[8] with urban development extending into OsageRogers, and Wagoner counties.[6]

Tulsa was settled between 1828 and 1836 by the Lochapoka Band of Creek Native American tribe and most of Tulsa is still part of the territory of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.[9][a] In the early 20th century, Tulsa was home to the “Black Wall Street“, one of the most prosperous Black communities in the United States at the time.[10] In 1921, the community was the site of the Tulsa race massacre, “the single worst incident of racial violence in American history.”[11] White and black gunmen clashed in the streets and the prosperous black Greenwood District was completely destroyed, its homes and businesses burned down and its residents expelled.[12]Historically, a robust energy sector fueled Tulsa’s economy; however, today the city has diversified and leading sectors include finance, aviation, telecommunications and technology.[13]

Tulsa, Oklahoma Home Security

I live alone and based on word of mouth, I decided to go with Safe Streets for my security system. The cost is reasonable and everybody that I’ve dealt with has been remarkable. They were friendly and very knowledgeable. The salesperson was really good too. I asked for the minimum but he showed me more options so I upgraded. I ended up with more than I had asked for. I also had a great experience with the customer service representative. He was easy to follow and it was easy to get the thing done. Then for the installation, the man was on time. He showed me all my different options then once I selected what I wanted, the system was up and running in no time. It’s very easy to use and in terms of performance, it’s a 10 out of 10. It’s great and I like it. I feel secure and I would definitely recommend it.

Burglaries Cost More than You Think

Being the victim of a home burglary can be a very distressing experience. Stress may become compounded once the financial impact of a burglary becomes apparent. According to the FBI, burglary victims in 2011 faced, on average, nearly $2,200 in property loss. This number doesn’t take into consideration additional expenses in the form of lost wages, insurance deductibles, and various other costs. Residents of some cities were victims of as many as 109101 property crimes and 27459 burglaries in 2011. Several of these burglaries could have been prevented had homeowners installed home security systems, which can deter potential intruders from breaking into a residence.

Why Oklahoma Homeowners Choose ADT Monitoring Systems

There are many different reasons Oklahoma residents choose ADT Security Monitoring to help protect their home & family from burglary and other disasters. But we thought we’d list just a few reasons for choosing SafeStreets USA and ADT.

Multiple types of protection. ADT monitored security systems not only help protect against burglaries and home invasion, but also helps against fire and even carbon monoxide poisoning. An alarm can help wake your family in case of smoke and fire. A panic button can also help contact police or fire department during an emergency, perhaps even saving your life.

Security equipment that’s easy to use. With just a push of a button you can easily arm and disarm your system. And with the panic button your family can quickly alert emergency response such as police or the need of an ambulance.

Dependable equipment and confident monitoring your home security system is monitored 24 hours a day and 365 days per year by trained staff at the ready. ADT provides great redundancy with 6 US monitoring centers your home is never unprotected. If one center is down then another automatically starts monitoring your home.

Quick deployment of first responders. At any time your alarm is triggered or you push the panic button, ADT’s monitoring centers will quickly try and verify your situation. If you are having an actual emergency ADT will immediately notify police or fire responders with your exact location and details.

Safety Tip: Lighting your home Outside

Outside your home
Good lighting outside will also help deter burglars and reduce accidents, but it’s a little trickier because you’ll have to experience the dark spots to know where you need to make adjustments. Do your assessment when it’s dark and check for the following:

Are sidewalks and pathways clearly lit, for your family, but also for visitors?
Is the path to your shop or detached garage clearly lit?
Are there dark areas by doorways or windows where someone could hide while breaking in?
As you’re improving your outdoor lighting, keep in mind these three tips so your yard doesn’t end up looking like a brightly lit runway:

Use motion sensors to provide light only when and where needed. Perhaps a soft light is enough most of the time, but a motion sensor can turn on a brighter light as someone approaches the house.
Be wary of really bright lights that shine like a spotlight because they will also create dark shadows—and you want to avoid that.
Be a good neighbor and make sure your lights are not annoying or pointing into anyone else’s yard.

Tulsa is the second-largest city in the state of Oklahoma and 47th-most populous city in the United States. As of July 2016, the population was 403,505, an increase of 10,591 over that reported in the 2010 Census. It is the principal municipality of the Tulsa Metropolitan Area, a region with 981,005 residents in the MSA and 1,151,172 in the CSA. The city serves as the county seat of Tulsa County, the most densely populated county in Oklahoma, with urban development extending into Osage, Rogers, and Wagoner counties. Tulsa was settled between 1828 and 1836 by the Lochapoka Band of Creek Native American tribe. For most of the 20th century, the city held the nickname “Oil Capital of the World” and played a major role as one of the most important hubs for the American oil industry.

Historically, a robust energy sector fueled Tulsa’s economy; however, today the city has diversified and leading sectors include finance, aviation, telecommunications and technology. Two institutions of higher education within the city have sports teams at the NCAA Division I level, Oral Roberts University and the University of Tulsa. It is situated on the Arkansas River between the Osage Hills and the foothills of the Ozark Mountains in northeast Oklahoma, a region of the state known as “Green Country”. Considered the cultural and arts center of Oklahoma, Tulsa houses two art museums, full-time professional opera and ballet companies, and one of the nation’s largest concentrations of art deco architecture. The city has been called one of America’s most livable large cities by Partners for Livable Communities, Forbes, and Relocate America. FDi Magazine in 2009 ranked the city no. 8 in the U.S. for cities of the future. In 2012, Tulsa was ranked among the top 50 best cities in the United States by Business Week. People from Tulsa are called “Tulsans”.
