Westwood is a town in Norfolk CountyMassachusetts, United States. The population was 16,057 in 2017. In July 2005, CNN/Money and Money magazine ranked Westwood 13th on its list of the 100 Best Places to Live in the United States.[citation needed] Boston magazine included Gay Street in Westwood on its list of the Best Streets in the Boston area.[citation needed] It is the 9th wealthiest town in the state of Massachusetts.[citation needed]Westwood was first settled in 1641 and was part of the town of Dedham, originally called ‘West Dedham’, until it was officially incorporated in 1897. It was the last town to split from the original town of Dedham.

From early in the settlement of Dedham, the people of the Clapboard Trees Precinct were “a wealthy, sophisticated lot, familiar with the bigwigs of provincial politics and prone to the religious liberalism that was à la mode in Boston.”[1] Residents did not care for the politically more powerful Calvinist views of those who lived in the village of Dedham and asked to separate.[2]It was originally to have been named the “Town of Nahatan:”a bill to incorporate the Town of Nahatan was reported in the Senate on March 8, 1897, by Senator Charles F. Woodward, Chairman of the Committee on Towns. No opposition to the passage of the bill appeared until it reached the House, when the representative from Nahant objected to the name “Nahatan,”

Westwood, Massachusetts Home Security

My husband travels a lot and so my two daughters and I are home alone. Our neighborhood is pretty safe but I wanted a little extra security. We live in a gated community, but sometimes, it’s more enticing. I encountered an Amazon driver that was a little skeptical and I felt like they hire everybody, and that was what freaked me out the most. I researched online and a person from ADT came here to speak with us. Their price seemed really good and it has been in the business for a long time so they’re reliable. Their people have all been very informative and the guy that installed the system did a really good job. We got the basic features and it was fantastic. We also have an option to add features in the future. It’s a great system and a great price for what you get.

Burglaries Cost More than You Think

Being the victim of a home burglary can be a very distressing experience. Stress may become compounded once the financial impact of a burglary becomes apparent. According to the FBI, burglary victims in 2011 faced, on average, nearly $2,200 in property loss. This number doesn’t take into consideration additional expenses in the form of lost wages, insurance deductibles, and various other costs. Residents of some cities were victims of as many as 109101 property crimes and 27459 burglaries in 2011. Several of these burglaries could have been prevented had homeowners installed home security systems, which can deter potential intruders from breaking into a residence.

Why Massachusetts Homeowners Choose ADT Monitoring Systems

There are many different reasons Massachusetts residents choose ADT Security Monitoring to help protect their home & family from burglary and other disasters. But we thought we’d list just a few reasons for choosing SafeStreets USA and ADT.

Multiple types of protection. ADT monitored security systems not only help protect against burglaries and home invasion, but also helps against fire and even carbon monoxide poisoning. An alarm can help wake your family in case of smoke and fire. A panic button can also help contact police or fire department during an emergency, perhaps even saving your life.

Security equipment that’s easy to use. With just a push of a button you can easily arm and disarm your system. And with the panic button your family can quickly alert emergency response such as police or the need of an ambulance.

Dependable equipment and confident monitoring your home security system is monitored 24 hours a day and 365 days per year by trained staff at the ready. ADT provides great redundancy with 6 US monitoring centers your home is never unprotected. If one center is down then another automatically starts monitoring your home.

Quick deployment of first responders. At any time your alarm is triggered or you push the panic button, ADT’s monitoring centers will quickly try and verify your situation. If you are having an actual emergency ADT will immediately notify police or fire responders with your exact location and details.

Tip: Winter driving tips

Although our part of the country is going through an extremely mild winter (as in little snowpack which will probably lead to water issues this summer), other parts of the country are getting the usual blasts of arctic air and bouts of heavy snowfall. Since winter weather has to be extreme to get people to stay home, plenty of us are out there driving no matter the road conditions. And that’s dangerous. ~ www.safestreetsusa.com

According to reporting by USAToday.com, over 4,000 Americans have died in winter-related car crashes in the past five years. In fact, car accidents kill more people than weather disasters, and commonsense says accidents are more likely when visibility is bad and roads are slick.

We are all about safety and security at SafeStreetsUSA, and that includes watching out for you while you’re on the road. So we compiled some tips for you for safer winter driving, based on advice offered by AAA…

Before you leave the house
The best way to be ready for winter driving is to be prepared ahead of time. Take time to see to these things long before you grab your keys and coat:

  • Stock your car with things you might need in an emergency, such as blankets, gloves, hats, food, water and medication. Also carry something brightly colored in case you get stuck.
  • Avoid driving while tired. Your reaction time won’t be as good should you need to avoid an accident.
  • Make sure your car is well maintained, and your tires are properly inflated. Or, as we like to say, make sure your car is trip worthy. This is sound advice all year long, but especially in the winter when being stranded will be a bigger challenge.
  • Keep your gas tank at least half full. This is in part to avoid your gas line freezing, but it’s also sound advice for being prepared for adversity.
  • Keep an eye on the weather forecasts, especially before a long-distance drive or driving in an isolated area. If you can’t postpone a trip, make sure someone knows your route, destination and estimated time of arrival.
