Norwalk is a suburban city in Los Angeles CountyCaliforniaUnited States. The population was 105,549 at the 2010 census[8] and an estimated 103,949 in 2019.[9] It is the 58th most densely-populated city in California.[10] Founded in the late 19th century, Norwalk was incorporated as a city in 1957. It is located 17 miles (27 km) southeast of downtown Los Angeles and is part of the Greater Los Angeles area. Norwalk is a member of the Gateway Cities Council of Governments. Norwalk’s sister cities are Morelia in the Mexican state of Michoacán, and Hermosillo, in the Mexican state of Sonora.[11] The area known as “Norwalk” was first home to the Shoshonean Native American tribe. They survived primarily on honey, an array of berries, acorns, sage, squirrels, rabbits and birds. Their huts were part of the Sejat Indian village.

In the late 1760s, settlers and missions flourished under Spanish rule with the famous El Camino Real trail traversing the area. Manuel Nieto, a Spanish soldier, received a Spanish land grant (Rancho Los Nietos) in 1784 that included Norwalk. Norwalk operates under a Council/Manager form of government, established by the Charter of the City of Norwalk which was drafted in 1957. The five-member City Council acts as the city’s chief policy-making body. Every two years, Council members are elected by the citizens of Norwalk to serve four-year, overlapping terms. Council members are not limited to the number of terms they may serve. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves a one-year term.

Norwalk, California Home Security

My husband travels a lot and so my two daughters and I are home alone. Our neighborhood is pretty safe but I wanted a little extra security. We live in a gated community, but sometimes, it’s more enticing. I encountered an Amazon driver that was a little skeptical and I felt like they hire everybody, and that was what freaked me out the most. I researched online and a person from ADT came here to speak with us. Their price seemed really good and it has been in the business for a long time so they’re reliable. Their people have all been very informative and the guy that installed the system did a really good job. We got the basic features and it was fantastic. We also have an option to add features in the future. It’s a great system and a great price for what you get.

Burglaries Cost More than You Think

Being the victim of a home burglary can be a very distressing experience. Stress may become compounded once the financial impact of a burglary becomes apparent. According to the FBI, burglary victims in 2011 faced, on average, nearly $2,200 in property loss. This number doesn’t take into consideration additional expenses in the form of lost wages, insurance deductibles, and various other costs. Residents of some cities were victims of as many as 109101 property crimes and 27459 burglaries in 2011. Several of these burglaries could have been prevented had homeowners installed home security systems, which can deter potential intruders from breaking into a residence.

Why California Homeowners Choose ADT Monitoring Systems

There are many different reasons California residents choose ADT Security Monitoring to help protect their home & family from burglary and other disasters. But we thought we’d list just a few reasons for choosing SafeStreets USA and ADT.

Multiple types of protection. ADT monitored security systems not only help protect against burglaries and home invasion, but also helps against fire and even carbon monoxide poisoning. An alarm can help wake your family in case of smoke and fire. A panic button can also help contact police or fire department during an emergency, perhaps even saving your life.

Security equipment that’s easy to use. With just a push of a button you can easily arm and disarm your system. And with the panic button your family can quickly alert emergency response such as police or the need of an ambulance.

Dependable equipment and confident monitoring your home security system is monitored 24 hours a day and 365 days per year by trained staff at the ready. ADT provides great redundancy with 6 US monitoring centers your home is never unprotected. If one center is down then another automatically starts monitoring your home.

Quick deployment of first responders. At any time your alarm is triggered or you push the panic button, ADT’s monitoring centers will quickly try and verify your situation. If you are having an actual emergency ADT will immediately notify police or fire responders with your exact location and details.

Why aggressive driving is worse than you thought

The American Automobile Association(AAA) estimates that 56% of accidents involve aggressive driving. An AAA study showed more than half of all fatal crashes involved unsafe driving behaviors associated with aggressive driving.
In 2016, speeding killed 10,111 people. In addition, the data shows 20% of drivers speeding in fatal crashes in 2016 had previously been involved in a crash and 26% had a previous speeding conviction. The NHTSA estimates fatalities and injuries could increase by 50% by 2020.
How to put a stop to aggressive driving. Once you see those numbers, I hope you’ll agree that driving aggressively is simply not worth the risk. So what can we do about it?

If you’re the one driving aggressively, start by recognizing and admitting to your behavior. You’re not going to get anywhere any faster by driving that way, and you are putting yourself and any passengers at risk. Try to relax and take a deep breath. Listen to soothing music or an audio book that will take your mind off your frustrations. Recognize when you’re getting in the car angry, such as after a bad day at work. You want to make it home safely, right? And you want everyone else to make it home safely too, I’m sure. So dial it back.

What if you’re driving safely but you’re on the receiving end of the dangers of an aggressive driver? Do not start driving like them or trying to get back at them. Instead, give them the benefit of the doubt and stay clear of them.

Just because a behavior has become the new normal does not mean we have to behave that way. We can put safety and security first. As for me, I’m ordering “Caution Horses” stickers for the back of my trailer…and taking a lot of deep breaths on my next road trip with those live animals in tow.
