Mountain View is a city in Santa Clara County, California,[12] United States, in Silicon Valley. Named for its views of the Santa Cruz Mountains,[13] Mountain View has developed from its origins as a stagecoach stop into one of the principal cities of Silicon Valley. It has a population of 74,066.[14]Situated in the southern end of the peninsula in the San Francisco Bay Area, in the northwest corner of Santa Clara County, Mountain View is the location of many high technology companies. In 1956, Shockley Semiconductor Laboratory, the first company to develop silicon semiconductor devices in what came to be known as Silicon Valley, was established in the city by William Shockley.

Today, the headquarters of many of the world’s largest technology companies are in the city, including GoogleMozilla Foundation, and Intuit. The Mexican land grant of Rancho Pastoria de las Borregas was given in 1842 by Alta California Governor Juan Alvarado to Francisco Estrada. This grant was later passed on to Mariano Castro, who sold half of the land to Martin Murphy, Jr. Eventually, the former land grant was developed as the cities of Mountain View and Sunnyvale. The southwest shore of San Francisco Bay was settled by European-Americans in 1852 as a stagecoach station. This was after the United States acquired California. By the early 1900s, it was a shipping point for fruit and grain, as well as a center of religious book publishing.[15]

Mountain View, California Home Security

The SafeStreets rep was good. He walked me through the system and he was very thorough. He set everything up for me, so I really didn’t have to do anything. I got a package but he did mention that if I wanna add more stuff, then I can always call and get those things added. Also, I was supposed to get a gift card when I got the package deal but I never received it. So far, they perform very good. The videos and stuff are very clear. I use their smartphone feature. I can do everything through it. Other than watching the videos, I can arm and disarm everything, and it’s cool. Sometimes I get delays and I think it’s because of my network provider, but overall, it’s clear and good. The cost is good too.

Burglaries Cost More than You Think

Being the victim of a home burglary can be a very distressing experience. Stress may become compounded once the financial impact of a burglary becomes apparent. According to the FBI, burglary victims in 2011 faced, on average, nearly $2,200 in property loss. This number doesn’t take into consideration additional expenses in the form of lost wages, insurance deductibles, and various other costs. Residents of some cities were victims of as many as 109101 property crimes and 27459 burglaries in 2011. Several of these burglaries could have been prevented had homeowners installed home security systems, which can deter potential intruders from breaking into a residence.

Why California Homeowners Choose ADT Monitoring Systems

There are many different reasons California residents choose ADT Security Monitoring to help protect their home & family from burglary and other disasters. But we thought we’d list just a few reasons for choosing SafeStreets USA and ADT.

Multiple types of protection. ADT monitored security systems not only help protect against burglaries and home invasion, but also helps against fire and even carbon monoxide poisoning. An alarm can help wake your family in case of smoke and fire. A panic button can also help contact police or fire department during an emergency, perhaps even saving your life.

Security equipment that’s easy to use. With just a push of a button you can easily arm and disarm your system. And with the panic button your family can quickly alert emergency response such as police or the need of an ambulance.

Dependable equipment and confident monitoring your home security system is monitored 24 hours a day and 365 days per year by trained staff at the ready. ADT provides great redundancy with 6 US monitoring centers your home is never unprotected. If one center is down then another automatically starts monitoring your home.

Quick deployment of first responders. At any time your alarm is triggered or you push the panic button, ADT’s monitoring centers will quickly try and verify your situation. If you are having an actual emergency ADT will immediately notify police or fire responders with your exact location and details.

Ways to keep your college kid safe when coming home for the holidays

Although you’ve sent your child off to college, that doesn’t yet make him or her a full-fledged adult ready to take on all the responsibilities that come with age. They might be doing well enough to keep up with their studies and keep their dorm room decent, but they haven’t necessarily mastered commonsense. And that can be an issue when they’re traveling home for the holidays.

Unless you’re going to the campus to pick them up, your child is likely getting home some other way. Before those arrangements are made, make a quick review of what to consider, so you and your teen can be clear on travel plans and how to be safe during the journey.

If your child is traveling by plane, train or bus, make sure all travel arrangements are made well in advance. You don’t want to purchase a plane ticket only to find out your child never arranged for transportation to the airport, for example, or that they didn’t know they needed to be at the train station an hour before departure time. There will be some babysitting from afar this first time or two that they travel home independently, but they will get the hang of it.

Also review basic safety tips with your child well in advance, meaning not the night before when they’ll be too distracted by packing to pay attention. These kinds of safety tips might be commonsense for you, especially if you travel a lot, but that doesn’t mean your teen knows them. Go over them just in case. Include things like don’t leave your bags unattended, carry your purse or wallet close to you, be aware of people bumping into you or in other ways distracting you, keep your photo ID and boarding pass with you (like in your pocket) all the time, sit in crowded rather than isolated waiting areas, and make sure your contact information is inside of any checked bags.
