Claremont (/ˈklɛərmɒnt/) is a city on the eastern edge of Los Angeles County, California, United States, 30 miles (48 km) east of downtown Los Angeles. It is in the Pomona Valley, at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 34,926,[8] and in 2019 the estimated population was 36,266.[9]Claremont is the home of the Claremont Colleges and other educational institutions, and the city is known for its tree-lined streets with numerous historic buildings.[10] Because of this, it is sometimes referred to as “The City of Trees and Ph.Ds.”[1] In July 2007, it was rated by CNN/Money magazine as the fifth best place to live in the United States, and was the highest rated place in California on the list.[11] It was also named the best suburb in the West by Sunset Magazine in 2016, which described it as a “small city that blends worldly sophistication with small-town appeal.”[12][13] In 2018, Niche rated Claremont as the 17th best place to live in the Los Angeles area out of 658 communities it evaluated, based on crime, cost of living, job opportunities, and local amenities.[14]

The city is primarily residential, with a significant portion of its commercial activity located in “The Village,” a popular collection of street-front small stores, boutiques, art galleries, offices, and restaurants adjacent to and west of the Claremont Colleges. The Village was expanded in 2007, adding a controversial[15][16] multi-use development that includes an indie cinema, a boutique hotel, retail space, offices, and a parking structure on the site of an old citrus packing plant west of Indian Hill Boulevard.

Claremont, California Home Security

When we moved to a new house, it was already wired for a home security system. PP&L had a referral program and they referred me to what I thought was ADT, but it was Safe Streets. My interactions with their reps were fine. But, the installer left the old box along with the old battery down in the basement and I’m trying to figure out how to get rid of that. Other than that, he did fine. The service has been good so far.

Burglaries Cost More than You Think

Being the victim of a home burglary can be a very distressing experience. Stress may become compounded once the financial impact of a burglary becomes apparent. According to the FBI, burglary victims in 2011 faced, on average, nearly $2,200 in property loss. This number doesn’t take into consideration additional expenses in the form of lost wages, insurance deductibles, and various other costs. Residents of some cities were victims of as many as 109101 property crimes and 27459 burglaries in 2011. Several of these burglaries could have been prevented had homeowners installed home security systems, which can deter potential intruders from breaking into a residence.

Why California Homeowners Choose ADT Monitoring Systems

There are many different reasons California residents choose ADT Security Monitoring to help protect their home & family from burglary and other disasters. But we thought we’d list just a few reasons for choosing SafeStreets USA and ADT.

Multiple types of protection. ADT monitored security systems not only help protect against burglaries and home invasion, but also helps against fire and even carbon monoxide poisoning. An alarm can help wake your family in case of smoke and fire. A panic button can also help contact police or fire department during an emergency, perhaps even saving your life.

Security equipment that’s easy to use. With just a push of a button you can easily arm and disarm your system. And with the panic button your family can quickly alert emergency response such as police or the need of an ambulance.

Dependable equipment and confident monitoring your home security system is monitored 24 hours a day and 365 days per year by trained staff at the ready. ADT provides great redundancy with 6 US monitoring centers your home is never unprotected. If one center is down then another automatically starts monitoring your home.

Quick deployment of first responders. At any time your alarm is triggered or you push the panic button, ADT’s monitoring centers will quickly try and verify your situation. If you are having an actual emergency ADT will immediately notify police or fire responders with your exact location and details.

Tip: Things to know about home owners insurance

At our house, we’ve been talking about our mortgage payment because it switches to an adjustable rate mortgage at the end of this year and we’re nervous. We also got our property tax bill last week and it was significantly higher than in previous year’s—about 25% higher, which was a surprise. All that adds up to housing costs being top of mind today! ~ www.safestreetsusa.com

Fortunately, among the trifecta of home ownership costs—mortgage, property taxes and insurance—homeowners do have some control over one of the three at least: insurance.

One, how to lower the cost of your homeowner’s insurance
The Insurance Information Institute lists 12 practical ways to lower your homeowner’s insurance costs:

Two, get a home security system
A home security system can lower your costs for homeowner’s insurance by up to 20%, but a home security system is also a deterrent—and wouldn’t you rather avoid the burglary in the first place? Since 90% of burglars say they ignore a house with an obvious home security system, you’ll decrease the chance of a break-in, which protects not only your property but also your peace of mind.

Third, do an inventory just in case
Despite the best laid plans, your house might be burglarized. If that happens, you’ll lose items of monetary value, but you’ll also lose your sense of security—for a while, at least. It will be hard to feel safe in your own home. You can minimize the damage done by a burglary with an inventory done ahead of time. ~ read more
