Citrus Heights is a city in Sacramento County, California. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, the city had a population of 83,301, down from 85,071 at the 2000 U.S. Census. Citrus Heights voters approved the measure to incorporate the City on November 5, 1996, effective January 1, 1997. The measure won, with 62.5% of the votes. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 14.2 square miles (37 km2), all land. The city incorporated January 2, 1997 (January 1 according to the official city website), becoming the fifth city in Sacramento County.
